Question: Do I need to do a site survey?
Answer: A wireless survey is an engineered approach that helps analyze the surrounding RF environment and ideal locations for WAPs (Wireless Access Point) placement. The survey provides a method of pre-qualifying placement of WAPs to ensure ideal coverage compared to a “here looks good approach”. It also assists with designing the wireless environment to account for various obstacles such as walls, office furniture, height, warehouse racking and so on that create attenuation of the signal and other RF challenges. Various items including reduced RSSI strength, channel interference or poor airtime usage can negatively affect overall end user experience.
